Planting Tips
- Dig a planting hole twice as wide as the root pouch container pot.
- Firm soil around root pouch, and plant 1” higher than the surrounding soil.
- Create an earth and soil saucer around the perimeter of the root pouch.
- Thoroughly water to remove air pockets.
- Apply a 2” layer of mulch around the perimeter of the newly planted tree keeping mulch away from the plant stem.
- Install 5’ plant tube and stake.
- Monitor newly planted trees, and water during periods of dry weather.
Tree Tubes
Tree tubes act as a mini-greenhouse that gathers condensation to aid in watering. Tree tubes also protect trees from deer browsing, buck rubbing, and small bark chewing animals. Tree tubes of 5’ are highly recommended.
A variety of high-quality trees will provide a long-term food source for your wildlife. Different trees will require different soil conditioning and have different acorn drop times. The hybrid Oaks are ideal to get faster growth and will produce acorns much earlier.
